SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY

Lean Manufacturing

It is a management philosophy originally developed in Japan that combines set techniques to improve and optimize operational process by eliminating waste while offering the customer the highest quality product at the lowest possible price.

Lean identifies 8 types of waste. Scrap, repairs or rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, overprocessing, overproduction and under-utilized workforce: Carmiol Industrial has strived to inoculate our company against these 8 causes, which has resulted in advancing innovation, improvement of service and customer experience while lowering product costs.

Carmiol was certified as a Lean company in 1998 and continues to apply this philosophy in the production process and company culture. Having adopted LEAN culture has greatly strengthened the development of Social Responsibility programs.

Green Revolution

With increasing populations generating tons of household and industrial waste, over-consumption, deforestation, increasing emissions of carbon monoxide from vehicles and industries and lack of awareness are all contributing to the devastating damage to our environment.

Carmiol Industrial has assumed personal responsibility and action against these problems. Instead of waiting for local municipalities or the government to do something about it, we have decided to act on our own.

Therefore, in early 2009 with the assistance of Forest Engineer, Yamileth Sanchez, we set off on a mission to recover the deterioration of our natural resources. In 2009 approximately 600 trees of native species were planted along with “Carbon Hunters ” on riverbanks , throughout neighborhoods , alongside roads, farms, parks, etc.

The program incorporated the reforestation of the Rivera River which covered 200 meters both upstream and downstream from the location of our plant and included the placement of public service announcements and signs to educate the community and prevent contamination.

Offering the use of our facilities with the assistance of Engineer Sanchez, we germinated seeds that have grown into saplings that have been planted throughout the country.

The “Green Revolution” program will continue planting trees inside and outside the metropolitan area. For every purchase made at Carmiol Industrial the customer has the option to have a tree donated to be planted around the metropolitan area.

Our goal is to help turn our city into a forest, mitigate the greenhouse effect and revolutionize the general population to respect the environment.

Joining Forces

At Carmiol we promote students to participate in higher education projects to develop career skills within our facilities. Projects can be field related, case study or thesis project.

Students are given the resources and tools necessary to develop correlated projects, along with periodic progress evaluations including improvement recommendations and consultations, to address concerns with constructive feedback.

The goal is to show students how a company operates and provide professional insight into the reality they will face in the future (unlike the theory taught in university classrooms) by offering them the facilities where practical hands-on knowledge can be applied. These programs have greatly benefited many university students, as well as Carmiol Industrial through implementing projects undertaken by students in various fields.
